Project goal

This project is part of my internship during january-may 2024 at Rocket AB. The aim of the project is to create an AI assisted SaaS platform to let companies search, file, manage and monitor patents and trademarks globally. My role is to produce a user-friendly prototype based on research, iterate after user tests to achieve the best possible solution and design the user interface.

Research


To start off the project I conducted research in several different methods.


  • User interviews
  • User tests on competitors websites
  • Competitor analysis
  • Customer reviews
  • User interface inspiration

Pain points


Based on research following pain points were identified:


  • Scattered information
  • Lack of guidance through the process
  • Difficult terminology
  • No clear value proposition
  • Unnecessary information
  • Unappealing interface making users lose interest


These pain points were used as  focus areas to create solutions.

Solution concept


As this project is still ongoing the final solution is not complete, but a first set of interfaces and interactive flows has been tested and are currently being iterated. Some of the first iterations solutions are presented below.

Predictability & suggestions to improve


The prototype shows users their chances of approval and when a lower score is given the users gets suggestions of how to change to improve.

AI to match classification


Instead of sorting through 35 different categories with hundreds of subcategories not knowing which one to choose, users can describe their business and an AI will present the suitable classes for their business as well as a description of why they were matched with this class. This speeds up the process while making the user understand the choice and prevent them for accidentially choosing the wrong class.

Brand name generator


This feature allows users to write a description of their brand or business idea and an AI will generate brand name suggestions and show which countries this name is available to be trademarked in.


Though this was not part of the main solution concept this feature appealed all of the test participants.

Easy application flow

The interface was perceived as modern and trustworthy, making the users more willing to become customers.

Selecting the right class within the Nice classification was an easy task with the AI solution.
