Project goal

Fragsheet has lots of users signing up and visiting their site once, but not enough come back to user their servcie again. The goal of the project was therefore to increase bounce rate of users ad add value to the user. This project was done with four other UX design students over the course of three weeks.

Research


During the first week of this project we ued a variety of methods to gain insight and identify pain points. 

    • User interviews

    • User tests of current website

    • SWOT analysis

    • Lightning decision jam

    • Journey mapping

Pain points


Based on user interviews and user tests of the current website the following pain points were identified

  • Long waiting times from inviting someone to game together until it actually happens

  • Not possible to see which gamers are online and not

  • Difficulty finding other gamers who has the same goal (gaming casually or gaming to win)

  • Nothing that motivates users to stay on the page for a longer period of time or come back again


These pain points were used as  focus areas to create solutions.

Solution concept


We implemented several new features to improve user engagement and bounce rate, some are listed below.

Game sessions


To prevent long waiting times we created game sessions. Today, users send an invitation to another user, waits for an answer, and then needs to start a conversation about when to game together. With game sessions users can schedule a time to game together with various filters. A game session can be open for anyone on the platform to join or only for invited people.

Community


To increase user engagement we created a community page with discussion forums and an area to upload videos related to gaming. Users can comment, save discussions or start discussions.


Gamification aspects


We used several gamification aspects to appeal users to come back to the website. We implemented badges that users earn by completing certain tasks or goals and titles that are given to a user by other users on the platform. Unlike bagdes the titles are only earned after a user gets the same title assigned by five other users.

User test feedback

Game sessions


Users expeienced game sessions as a great way to decrease the long waiting times and to find other gamers.

Titles & badges


Receiving titles and badges was perceived as a fun and motivational aspect that test participants stated would make them revisit the website.

Community discussions


Creating discussions or participating in discussions was experienced as a good way to connect with others on the platform.
